Armory Museum

The Museum Zeughaus is a Mannheim museum. It is part of the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen, a museum complex that brings together various exhibition venues. The Zeughaus museum preserves a very varied collection: from ancient art, to collections of applied art to photographic collections. The museum is housed in the former 18th century Mannheim armory, which was converted in 2007 into a modern museum space, becoming an exhibition area of 6000 square meters equipped with state-of-the -art museum technology and multimedia installations combined with new concepts exhibition. The collection of ancient art preserves finds from the Etruscan, Hellenistic and Roman periods, while the one of applied arts preserves a large number of ancient porcelain and different types of artistic objects, including clocks, furniture and period clothing. A further section is dedicated to the history of the city of Mannheim, with a particular focus on the theatrical history of Mannheim, with a collection of theatrical playbooks, including the original inspiration book for Friedrich Schiller's The Robbers of 1782. They are then there are several exhibition spaces for temporary exhibitions, while an entire floor is dedicated to the International Photography Forum ", with the exhibition of photographic exhibitions.
