"Leonardo da Vinci. Beauty and invention", is the exhibition that will be held in Livorno from 20 December 2023 to 1 April 2024 at the City Museum (Piazza del Luogo Pio).
Promoted and organized by the Municipality of Livorno together with Metamorfosi Eventi and curated by Sara Taglialagamba, Sillabe catalogue, will see on display 15 autograph drawings by Leonardo da Vinci of the Atlantic Codex from the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan and the Codex on the Flight of Birds from the Royal Library of Turin.
There will also be Leonardo's drawings and paintings which testify to the reception and diffusion of Leonardo's themes.
In all, around 70 works that describe the very close union between beauty and invention typical of the universal genius.
In Leonardo's mind, beauty and invention constitute an indissoluble combination, just as the intent of representation is inseparable from the process of knowledge. The exhibition therefore aims to offer the opportunity to immerse oneself in the artist's mind by deepening his relationship between drawing and painting, which he considers a natural science. Compared to his contemporaries, in fact, the constant and meticulous study of truth is not limited to theoretical exercises of reproduction, but is the direct result of a miraculous investigation of nature.
The event was presented to the press this morning at the City Museum.
