A unique immersive experience that intertwines private and collective memory, a live art act, and an invitation to participate: "RE-PORTRAITS / RE-DISCOVERED" the exhibition-performance will start on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, with the inauguration at 5:30 pm at the Ground Floor of the Viscontea Tower in Lecco on the occasion of the Lecco Film Fest 2025.

The event aims to rediscover and give value to a heritage of memories considered "lost," such as amateur films and family snippets in Super8 and 8mm from anonymous archives. These images, although fragile and marked by time, become vibrant and living material to be artistically reinterpreted. The goal is to reactivate memory through images and gestures, transforming memory into a living work of art, a "painting of memory."

The heart of the event will be a live performance curated by Ilaria Pezone. Artists will work to trace the moving and elusive images of Super8 films, working on a shared canvas, capturing fragments of fading memories as the film progresses.

The audience will be invited to an immersive journey, walking in semi-darkness through a space set up like a labyrinth, a metaphor for the recesses of the mind. Video and painting will interact, accompanied by the mechanical sound of the projector and meditative sound frequencies, creating a state of listening and introspection. Each visitor will have the opportunity to leave a tangible imprint, contributing with small painterly marks on frames printed on canvas, placed at the back of the room.

"RE-PORTRAITS / RE-DISCOVERED" is also a collective act of memory care and raises a fundamental question about what we choose to remember and how. It is an invitation to rediscover memory not only in the faces of the past but in the traces we choose to leave today.

The initiative is carried out by the Ri-TRATTI Collective in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and the Urban Museum System of Lecco, promoted by ArteMETA.
