From 28 May to 12 November 2023
From 28 May to 12 November 2023 Palazzo delle Paure and the territory of the City of Lecco will be the scene of the great anthological exhibition dedicated to the Uruguayan Maestro, Pablo Atchugarry | A life between Lecco and the world. Works from 1978 to 2023 .
Since 1978, the city of Lecco has been the place that has welcomed the artistic production of Pablo Atchugarry , from the first pictorial works to the latest sculptural creations in marble, bronze and wood.
The exhibition falls on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Pablo Atchugarry's first exhibition in Italy, which took place in Lecco in 1978, in the territory that welcomed him and saw him become an undisputed protagonist of contemporary sculpture in the world, a bridge between two cultures distant in space but close in spirit: the Italian and the Uruguayan.
The halls of Palazzo delle Paure will host an excursus on the artist's life , from the first pictorial works, daughters of a figurativism that moves towards the abstract, up to the current sculptural productions, in a rich production that tells us the intense relationship between form, matter and light .
The exhibition, curated by Pablo Atchugarry himself with the support of the architect Alessio Gilardi , aims to be a tribute to the relationship and attachment that the Master still maintains today with the city of Lecco.
The exhibition catalog, published by Skira, collects a profound biographical interview of Valeria Campagni with the master, who tells us the story and the vicissitudes that led him to become an internationally renowned artist starting from the discovery of his artistic vocation, passing through 'arrival in Europe recalled by the search for his expressive way, to reach Lecco, Italy, towards the world.
