From 18 March to 19 June 2022 Palazzo delle Paure hosts La luce del vero. The legacy of Macchiaioli painting. From Fattori to Ghiglia, a new appointment in the cycle of exhibitions, which began in 2019, which explores the Italian art scene of the nineteenth century.
The exhibition, curated by Simona Bartolena, produced and created by ViDi - Visit Different, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and the Lecco Urban Museum System, explores, through ninety works from public and private collections, the hitherto little investigated theme of painting postmacchiaiola.
The exhibition is an opportunity to get closer to a heterogeneous and complex group of authors, from the Gioli brothers to the Tommasi family, from Llewelyn Lloyd to Ulvi Liegi, from Oscar Ghiglia to Plinio Nomellini, from Mario Puccini to Giovanni Bartolena, united by their vocation for true and for subjects drawn from everyday life and from the formation of Macchiaioli ancestry. Some of them will always remain faithful to the lessons of the masters, others, on the other hand, will lead their research towards areas very different from those of origin.
The exhibition itinerary develops as a story that, from the example of the masters - from Giovanni Fattori to Silvestro Lega -, will reach more contemporary results with artists such as Oscar Ghiglia and Lorenzo Viani, intertwining stylistic analysis, biographical story, reading iconographic and historical-social research.
