The show

Windows on the Mediterranean. Canvases and sculptures by Pino Deodato is the exhibition curated by the Educational Orientation Center Association - COE and Melesi Gallery in collaboration with the Municipality of Lecco and Si.MUL - Lecco Urban Museum System.

The exhibition, which is part of the fourth edition of the Agora del Mediterraneo (2021), is made up of four groups of works: the first reproduces scenes from everyday life: “Ricami domestica” and “Ricamata” narrate an intimate, domestic, familiar dimension. A man and a woman, raised as the emblem of a universal humanity, observe the dramas of our contemporaneity from behind a curtain. The second group of works tells the present. At the center is the theme of death: bodies, hands, faces that disappear in that mare nostrum which has been a source of life, cultural exchange and wealth for centuries. The third group of works, on the other hand, is directed towards the future and focuses on the theme of birth: in "Nativity" and "Christmas 3019" we imagine a hypothetical world, the result of the current climate crisis, inhabited exclusively by animals which, like of the Magi, celebrate the birth of a new man, a symbol of a new humanism. Finally, the fourth group tells stories of men, women and children fleeing scenarios of war and destruction, hunger, famine and environmental emergencies and in need of protection and hospitality.
