The Kunstsammlung Jena is an exhibition space in Jena that displays the city's art collection, especially works from the modern and contemporary period. It is a civic collection brought together in the 1930s by the Kunstverein Jena, an artistic association that had set itself the goal of promoting contemporary art. Today, the museum organizes numerous temporary exhibitions in which it exhibits its collection consisting of around 5000 works. Through this ever-changing exhibition program, Jena's artistic heritage is continuously made accessible to the public. Among the numerous international exhibitions organized in the Kunsthalle, the ones that presented to the public the works of Auguste Rodin, Emil Nolde, the group of artists Brücke, August Macke, the French painting collection of the "Petit Palais "and Wassily Kandinsky.
