Auswanderermuseum BallinStadt Hamburg is a Hamburg museum dedicated to the history of emigration. Through an engaging museographic journey, the museum shows 400 years of emigration and immigration history, above all German and especially from the 19th and early 20th centuries: BallinStadt vividly recalls the waves of emigrants who left Germany for America with interesting presentations on life before and after the trip. The museum is housed in the ancient warehouses that in the past were used to accommodate people who reached Hamburg from all over Europe with the intention of embarking on the journey to America. The warehouses were founded by Albert Ballin, hence the name and dedication of the museum. In the museum it is possible to see a cross-section of the life of the emigrants, through objects, documents, reconstructions of environments and audiovisual supports.
