The MACG - Museum of Contemporary Art in Gibellina is located in the center of the new city. The museum is the first in all of Sicily dedicated to contemporary art. The museum was created in the fifties and sixties, thanks to the collaboration between the City and gallery owners and art experts as: Calvesi, Argan, Bonito Oliva, Paparoni, Soldano, Di Stefano, Apella and Romero. The collection consists of about 2,000 works, including drawings, photographs, paintings, installations and sculptures by Sicilian artists, national and international. Among the most famous artists include: Boetti, Capogrossi, Guttuso, Isgrò, Pollok, Tomato, Signorini, Severini, Schifano, Xerra and Treccani. The museum now houses an educational section aimed at children and takes care of bringing young audiences to contemporary art.
