It is inspired by the title of Thomas More's work Utopia, the International Exhibition of Contemporary Illustrators curated by the Tapirulan association that the rooms of Castello D'Albertis host from April 9th (with the opening scheduled at 4 pm) to May 29th. The exhibition is divided into three sections. In the first, 52 works are exhibited, created by illustrators from all over the world and selected through the annual competition organized by the Tapirulan association, now in its sixteenth edition this year. The works on display were chosen by an exceptional jury president: David McKee, an internationally renowned illustrator, to whom the second section of the exhibition, "Sweet table", is dedicated. An overview of the prolific career of the British artist focusing on his most famous characters, from the little elephant Elmer to King Rollo, from Mr. Benn to Paddington bear, as well as a small section dedicated to unpublished works. "Utopian Garden" is instead the title of the third section focused on Thomas More's work Utopia. On the occasion of the sixteenth International Exhibition of Contemporary Illustrators, the Tapirulan association has published a new translation of the book, edited by Davide Astori, with the drawings by Guido Scarabottolo. The Utopian Garden materializes in a dozen outdoor panels (on one side we find reproductions of Guido Scarabottolo's drawings, on the opposite side the excerpts from Thomas More's book Utopia) that become interactive thanks to a free application. The drawings can, in fact, be framed and, thanks to augmented reality, "come to life" through the appearance of a video with the recitation of the corresponding text, interpreted by Paolo Briganti of the Argante Studio in Parma. Thanks to the application, moreover, the excerpts from the book can be accessed by blind and deaf people.
