On June 3, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Emanuele Luzzati, the exhibition Sipari Incantati opens. Act I in the Casa Luzzati space dedicated to the Maestro at Palazzo Ducale, in collaboration with the city of Genoa and the “Lele Luzzati Foundation”.

Enchanted Curtains. Act I is an interdisciplinary path of costumes, sketches and installations by Emanuele Luzzati created in collaboration with the Cerratelli Foundation, the Municipality of Genoa, the Lele Luzzati Foundation and the Palazzo Ducale Foundation for Culture, with the patronage and support of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce and the institutional patronage of the Liguria Region, the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts of Genoa, the University of Pisa and Unige-DAD.

The path of the works winds through the installation of the artifacts or theatrical costumes of the Cerratelli Foundation, related to historical performances of numerous theaters. Alongside the vision of preparatory sketches, sketches drawings, theatrical maquettes. According to the different titles of the shows, it is possible to understand Luzzati's versatility over time, in the creations for film, the stage, the written page. The objective of the exhibition does not want to be an exhaustive path on his work but a solicitation and reflection on the inventive and imaginative processes of Luzzati. From Voltaire's Candide declined from over 30 plates engraved for his graduation essay at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lausanne, to Leonard Bernstein's music show at the Saint Louis theater.

We will discover the original illustrations for the book of the same name for the Nuages publisher in Milan, the theater for the Valton Foundation in Ischia, Mozart's Magic Flute approached as a first experience of opera theater in Glyndebourne to illustrations for the Oxford publisher, at the park games of Santa Margherita and again at the mezzaro for Giglio Bagnara Editore.

Present numerous precious editions in the techniques of screen printing and chalcography. Surprising are the costumes for Rossini's Cinderella for the Teatro Lirico di Genova in 1978, together with four splendid mixed-technique and collage tables for the book by the great publisher Mario Vijak of Quadragono Libri, inspiring the historic show directed by Pippo Crivelli The twelve Cinderella in search of an author, written by Rita Cirio. One room will be entirely dedicated to the screening of animated films, shows and interviews.
