A reportage that retraces breathtaking landscapes, abandoned places in places as incredible as they are inaccessible, where the forgotten battles of the Second World War were fought. The author takes us on a journey made of adventure, deep research and exploration, taking us along the Alps from France to Croatia, crossing Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia.

Starting from the origins of his family, decimated by the Great War and affected by the Second World War, the author has decided to retrace the footsteps of his grandparents to remember the tragedy that touched the lives of millions of Europeans. Behind the camera lies a feeling of pity for the fallen and of brotherhood among peoples.

The photographic exhibition, which has obtained the patronage of the European Commission, the CAI, the ANA and ESN Italy, is the new chapter that follows the one dedicated to the Great War.

Alessio Franconi is the author for Morellini Editore and for the Ulrico Hoepli publishing house. Collaborate with the magazine "Military History".
