Four years after the painter's death, the exhibition Raimondo Sirotti (1934-2017). The retrospective intends to propose, as already indicated in the title, an overall reading of his intense and articulated artistic experience, underlining the persistence of some peculiar thematic addresses to which, despite the continuous evolution of his research, the Ligurian painter has always remained faithful.
The exhibition was preceded, within the Sirotti 2020 Project, curated by Anna Orlando with Archivio Raimondo Sirotti, by the one inaugurated last year at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Villa Croce and dedicated to Sirotti and the Masters. In the first section Gli esordi (1955-1960) we analyze the first pictorial proofs of Sirotti influenced by the reference to the expressionist materiality of Mario Sironi who, in this phase, also functioned as an expressive filter for his personal landing on informal poetics, coinciding with the he moved to Milan in 1959, where he found his fellow students Roberto Scuderi and Pierluigi Lavagnino and came into contact with some young emerging artists, such as Alfredo Chighine, Roberto Crippa, Gianni Dova and Piero Manzoni.
In the following section Hypothesis of abstract naturalism, the works that characterized his adherence to the naturalistic declinations of informal poetics are presented. Characterized, by the common phenomenological approach to the harshness of the Ligurian landscape, by an expressive harmony with Gianfranco Fasce, this aesthetic approach continued to shape the subsequent developments of his pictorial research.
