The show

Genoa pays homage to Giuseppe Cominetti, one of the most multifaceted and representative figures of the artistic panorama between divisionism and futurism, through an exhibition that involves the whole city. Painter, sculptor, engraver, set designer, graphic designer and engraver from Genoa to Paris, he collected the testimony of a cultural experience that animated the first phase of the 20th century.

From 25 March to 4 June 2023, Divisionism and Futurism will be staged between Genoa and Paris, an exhibition project intended to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Cominetti's artistic debut which saw him as a protagonist at the Società Promotrice delle Belle Arti in Genoa in 1903.

Three venues will be involved in hosting this event, Palazzo Ducale, Wolfsoniana di Nervi and Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti, where in each the public will be able to discover a specific theme of its rich production.

The exhibition focuses on the two fundamental cycles that have contributed most to defining his artistic style: the works from the first Genoese period (1903-1908) and the following Parisian period (1909-1916), which have been selected from important public museums and private collections.

The initiative is part of a broader review dedicated to the master, which involves important city institutions such as the Wolfsoniana, the Ligustica Academy and Palazzo Ducale. In each venue a specific theme will be treated in order to give the public a complete picture of Cominetti's artistic production.
