Saturday 20 June 2020, after the restrictions of the Coronavirus emergency that had decreed the closure of the offices and exhibition spaces, the MA * GA of Gallarate (VA) reopens to the public, albeit with limited capacity and by compulsory reservation, to guarantee the correct safety and reception parameters.
The reopening of the museum and the cultural activities of the coming months are made possible thanks to the contribution of Ricola, institutional partner of the MA * GA.
Until 13 September 2020, he presents the personal exhibition of William Xerra, Mento al niente. Posters. The exhibition, curated by Lorena Giuranna, head of the MA * GA educational department, presents for the first time the series of posters from the "Mento" series, created by the artist from Piacenza in 2003, now in the permanent collection of the museum. Next to these, some works in postcard format from 1973, from the "Amori" cycle, are considered at the origins of all the complex work on the "lie" of Xerra and two videos: "Mento ad ora ora" film of 2007 and “A manifesto by William Xerra” from 2002 read by the critic Pierre Restany, a unique and touching document on the performative implications of the relationship between word and image that has always characterized the artist's work.
