For five months, the dialogue between art and design will be the absolute protagonist at MA*GA in Gallarate (VA).

From October 13, 2024, to March 2, 2025, two exhibition paths, parallel and complementary, linked by the same exhibition design, curated by Parasite 2.0, will tell the story and the near future of a language that has distinguished and continues to distinguish Italy in the world.

Art and design. Design is art, born from a project by Philippe Daverio, curated by Emma Zanella, Vittoria Broggini, and Alessandro Castiglioni, is the major exhibition dedicated to the history of Italian Design: an adventure of tireless innovation and experimentation, in constant dialogue with the visual arts. Art and Design. Design is art is a visionary and ambitious review that intertwines artistic production, design objects, and dialogues, from an aesthetic and ethical perspective, with the artistic production of modernity.

The sections around which the exhibition is built are five and, like in a novel, they are enriched by a preface and a postscript. These do not aim to summarize the second Italian twentieth century but to raise a series of issues that, decade after decade, have motivated the transformations of Italian Design.

HYPERDESIGN. XXVII edition of the Gallarate Prize, curated by Chiara Alessi, is instead reserved for projects and design processes after the zero years around some of the crucial themes of our present: sustainability and environment, safety and work, inclusivity and relationships.
