The Ugo Guidi Museum - MUG in Forte dei Marmi presents the 198th exhibition entitled Ugo Guidi from the Belli Collection curated by Giorgia Munaron with the opening on Sunday, May 18th at 6 pm, introduced by Vittorio Guidi and Lorenzo Belli with a critical intervention by Giorgia Munaron. "The exhibited works come from the Belli Collection, a precious nucleus of works on paper that reflects a particularly lyrical moment in the production of the Versilian artist between 1968 and 1971. Monotypes, tempera, mixed techniques compose a visual narrative that unfolds between the shore and the sea, between bodies and light, between gesture and contemplation. It is a lived and transfigured Versilia that emerges from these papers: not the elite summer tourist resort, but a territory inhabited by daily rituals and profound silences. The beach, the patina, the fishermen, the bathing children, fishing: each scene is a threshold, a suspended time that escapes chronicle to become archetype. Ugo Guidi looks at the world not to describe it, but to capture its essence. In the quick and incisive mark of the monotypes, a restrained physicality is felt, a plastic sense that comes from sculpture - the artist's first love - but here it lightens, becomes line, gesture, vibration. The bodies are barely hinted at yet solid, burdened with a silent presence. In the tempera, instead, the material becomes light: watery skies, opaque seabeds, colors absorbed like on skin. Water - whether sea, lake, or reflection - is always a changing, living, metaphysical element. In the works on paper collected from the Belli Collection, one can grasp the poetic force of an artist who has been able to narrate his own land without ever falling into description or nostalgia. Forte dei Marmi, Versilia, the Tuscan coast are not backgrounds, but inner presences: mental, emotional landscapes, filtered through the gaze of those who inhabited them naturally, with love, with discipline. For Guidi, everyday life is never banal. It is in the minimal gesture - rowing, looking, walking - that eternity is sought. Like in the fragments of an ancient poem, these works gather the vibrations of another time, where each figure seems to belong to a mythical and at the same time earthly iconography. Displayed in the house-studio that was the artist's most intimate space, the works converse with the living memory of the place. The Ugo Guidi Museum thus becomes the ideal stage to welcome this corpus, allowing the observer to immerse not only in the artist's imagination but also in an authentic piece of visual and anthropological culture of a Versilia that no longer exists. This exhibition is more than a tribute: it is an open window to a way of looking at the world, on the value of silence, gesture, line. An invitation to slow down, to see. To feel, in the sea, the quiet voice of art.
