The Labirinto della Masone resumes its exhibition season after the summer break with the new exhibition Bertozzi & Casoni. It's not what it seems which will be open from September 14, 2024, until January 7, 2025. An exhibition that, through the works of the artists Bertozzi & Casoni, whose creations always manage to amaze for their technical and formal sophistication capable of narrating contemporary society with a clear and original perspective, aims to highlight in particular the theme of corruption and the decay of the natural environment due to human intervention; a call to collective responsibility, highlighting the potential for regeneration that is inherent in nature itself.

Artistic duo born in Imola in 1980, Bertozzi & Casoni is composed of Giampaolo Bertozzi and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni, who passed away in 2023, Emilia-Romagna artists who both trained in the field of Faenza ceramics and who have always made this expressive medium the absolute protagonist of their creations, redeeming ceramics from the secondary role in which contemporary art had relegated it and achieving great international success thanks to their participation in various prestigious exhibitions abroad. Since the beginning of the new millennium, they have abandoned the traditional technique of painted majolica to specialize in materials and technologies of industrial derivation that have allowed for an increasingly realistic rendering of ceramics; the executive difficulty due to increasingly innovative experiments becomes a perceptual ease for the audience, which struggles to distinguish the fake from the real.

The works created by the duo are the result of long, careful, and thoughtful studies, the precise compositions are often modified until the last moment in a constant search for the perfect balance between form and content, ultimately delivering to the viewers sculptures with improbable yet realistic iconography, rich in references to pop culture and the world of art history and its most famous interpreters: alluding to an absurd theater linked to the daily life that manages to rework our contemporary society with an original and recognizable perspective, producing works balanced between irony and criticism of consumerism, where the hyperrealism of the creations raises doubts and the splendor gives rise to reflections on the decay of society.
