From 19 May to 8 October 2023 some shots of the man who is considered one of the greatest exponents of contemporary photography will be exhibited: the temporary exhibition "Children" by Steve McCurry will be held at the Museo degli Innocenti.

His career took off when he crossed the border from Pakistan into Afghanistan to document the Soviet-Afghan war in the late 1970s.

His photographs have captured the struggles and humanity of the Afghan people during this tumultuous time.

One of McCurry's most famous photographs, known as the "Afghan girl", was taken in a refugee camp near Pershawar, Pakistan, the photo dates back to 1984. The image of a young Afghan girl with green eyes has become a representation iconic of the plight of refugees around the world

Throughout his career, McCurry has traveled extensively, photographing different cultures and conflicts in countries such as India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Tibet and many others. His photographs often highlight the human element within these contexts, revealing emotions, stories and connections.

His ability in the use of color, the empathy and humanity he uses in his photos make them unforgettable, making him one of the most famous and loved photographers.

The use of the portrait is a focus theme in his production.
