The conference focuses on the reproducibility of a specific military uniform modeled on three garments: the Original, which is the uniform worn by a leader during a military parade; the Copy of the military uniform, or the replica made in the tailor's shop and kept in the atelier spaces; the Derivato, or the uniform as a stage costume worn by an actor who plays the leader in a film. Using Walter Benjamin's aura and reproducibility as tools for understanding what happens to a garment as it migrates from the space of a tailor's shop to a movie set, Metwaly reflects on how the value of the work changes depending on the role it plays. it has and of the value that is legally attributed to it.
