The show

In the Monumental Complex of San Francesco in Cuneo, in via Santa Maria 10 , from 5.00 pm there will be a meeting on the theme of traditional clothing in the civic collections of Cuneo, with particular attention to the influences and contaminations between tradition and contemporary fashion. The speaker, Gian Luca Bovenzi, is a historian of fashion and costume, he studied and cataloged the civic collection of textile cultural heritage, today he collaborates with the most prestigious national and international museums dedicated to ethnography and costume.

The meeting is an opportunity to inaugurate the first stage of the renovation and rearrangement of the ethnographic section of the museum, which welcomes a new and modern exhibitor for period clothing, designed specifically for civic collections, equipped with tactile graphics and of multimedia insert. The intervention was carried out thanks to the contribution of the Compagnia di San Paolo of Turin, through the 2017 edition of the "Places of Culture" call.

In addition, all participants in the event will be given a copy of the new guide "Paths of Ethnography at the Civic Museum of Cuneo", which illustrates the heterogeneous mix of tools, especially clothes and accessories, set up in the museum itinerary, with acute reflections on the topicality of ethnographic museums, signed by scholars from the University of Turin and the Piedmont Region. The publication was edited with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Torino Foundation, as part of the “Exponent - 2017” call.
