The Musée Louis Braille is a house museum in Coupvray, a small town not far from Paris, dedicated to Louis Braille, inventor of the Braille code, originally from the town of Coupvray. Opened in 1956, the house has been preserved according to its authentic appearance. It is a late 18th century building built on three levels. The museum presents the life and work of Louis Braille, thus also showing the typical atmosphere of a town in the Brie area in the 19th century. Beyond this, the museum organizes stimulating explanations on the history of the Braille Code, with the aim of raising awareness among the public, especially the younger one. The Garden of the five senses, the garden of the museum, is also organized around a tunnel, in which visitors are invited to enter: the tunnel represents blindness and during its journey all the senses are stimulated.
