Regole d'Ampezzo Ethnographic Museum

The new museum setup of the Ethnographic Museum of the Regole d'Ampezzo is located in a renovated sawmill. The museum itinerary has been totally redesigned and focused on the Regole d'Ampezzo, which is a centuries-old collective property of the Cortina d'Ampezzo valley.

The route is developed on the two upper floors of the building. On the first floor the collective institution of the Regole d'Ampezzo is presented; on the second floor the Regoliero territory and the collective management of woods and pastures are represented.

In the basement, a setup has been created that allows small thematic exhibitions to be held. The valuable collections of artistic craftsmanship - cabinet making, silver filigree, wrought iron - and traditional costumes are visible.

The exhibition aims to make all visitors to the museum understand how, behind a landscape of woods and pastures that everyone admires, there are centuries-old choices that past generations have made, how collective ownership has in the past constituted the essential source of the means of survival of the Ampezzo community and how the institution, still recognized, is still valid and operational today.

Through a selective exhibition of objects and images, the museum documents some important aspects of the culture of the Ampezzo community: the traditional heritage, the ways of managing the woods and pastures, the centuries-old relationship between men and the territory.
