The new museum layout of the Museo Etnografico Regole d'Ampezzo is located in a renovated sawmill. The museum path has been completely rethought and focused on the Regole d'Ampezzo, as a centuries-old collective property of the Cortina d'Ampezzo valley.

The path is developed on the two upper floors of the building. The first floor presents the collective institution of the Regole d'Ampezzo; the second floor represents the territory of the Regole and the collective management of forests and pastures.

In the basement, an exhibition has been set up allowing for small thematic displays. The valuable collections of artistic craftsmanship - woodworking, silver filigree, wrought iron - and traditional costumes are visible.

The exhibition aims to help all museum visitors understand how, behind a landscape of forests and pastures that everyone admires, there are centuries-old choices made by past generations, how collective ownership constituted in the past the essential source of survival means for the Ampezzo community, and how the institution, still recognized, is still valid and operational today.

Through a selective display of objects and images, the museum documents some important aspects of the culture of the Ampezzo community: the heritage of tradition, the management methods of forests and pastures, the centuries-old relationship between people and the territory.
