The Palazzo De Mayo

The Palazzo de 'Mayo is a historic house in the heart of the city of Chieti. The building is considered a jewel of Italian neoclassical and today houses inside the Museum of Modern Art Gallery of Fondazione Banco di Napoli. The museum contains an extensive collection consists of paintings on wood and canvas and sculptures from the nineteenth century until the contemporary age. A very important group consists of the works of artists from Abruzzo Francesco Paolo Michetti, Basilio Cascella and Constantine Barbella. The Twentieth Century instead remembers the collection "In the name of the Image" composed of 130 paintings and sculptures by 90 different artists. The palace also houses the library of the Foundation that owns a significant group of books and multimedia documents related to the themes of literature, photography, music and art. Some volumes treat the specific Abruzzo's art history on the history of Chieti and the Abruzzo religious history. The palace hosts conferences, seminars, exhibitions and cultural events related to local art contemporary.
