The MAP - Museum of Plastic Arts is located in Castiglione Olona in the province of Varese and was opened in 2004. The museum has been housed in the Palazzo dei Castiglioni Monteruzzo, whose rooms are fully preserved frescoes of the fourteenth century. The permanent collection consists of works of art from plastic materials manufactured by Count Ludovico Castiglioni and his cousin Franco Mazzucchelli. Between 1969 and 1973 they gave rise to a research laboratory equipped with technology and personnel from the factory Celluloid Mazzucchelli. The factory is considered the most important in Italy for the production and processing of plastic material. There are many artists who collaborated in the project, among which: Carla Accardi, Giacomo Balla, Man Ray and Philip Avalle. Very interesting it is the opportunity to visit the Museum walking between modern and contemporary art in an elegant architectural setting.
