The show

The Florentine Galleries, in fact, bring to the Casole d'Elsa museum a jewel by Francesco Rustici known as Rustichino , a Sienese painter of the early seventeenth century: “The Allegory of Painting and Architecture”. The painting will be at the center of the exhibition Francesco Rustici known as Rustichino (Siena, 1592 -1626) and the family. Two generations of artists active in Casole d'Elsa , curated by Patrizia La Porta, director of the Casole museum.

"The Allegory of Painting and Architecture" is documented in the Medici collections since 1663. In the work, two young women, personifications of Painting and Architecture, identify themselves thanks to the tools of their respective arts, that is drawing, brushes and compasses . On display, therefore, the Uffizi painting confronts the canvas by Rustici depicting a very sweet Saint Catherine exchanging her heart with Jesus . This work, belonging to the Casole museum, is shortly after the frescoes made by the painter, together with his father Vincenzo, for the church of San Niccolò. In the exhibition two different moments and genres of Francesco Rustici's art are compared, extending to the works of his family . In fact, the shop has kept the business in Casole for two generations: his father Vincenzo, his uncle Cristofano, his uncle Alessandro Casolani and his cousin Ilario.
