From 5 October to 21 March 2025
On display at the Reggia di Caserta, from October 5th to March 21st next year, is "The Crown of King Charles of Bourbon".
For six months, the back rooms of the Throne Room will host the faithful reproduction of the crown with which the sovereign was proclaimed king of Naples and Sicily on July 3, 1735. The magnificent jewel is famous for a unique central stone, of exceptional dimensions: a 41.5-carat diamond that the French Master Claude Imbert, author of the design, defined as "Perfect Violet Color", which was subsequently lost.
The exhibition is realized, following the evaluation of the Scientific Committee of the Museum of the Ministry of Culture, within the framework of the Participatory Enhancement Call of the Reggia di Caserta.
The exhibition "The Crown of King Charles of Bourbon" will offer a digital educational path to retrace the history and vicissitudes of this precious symbol of royal power and the complex phases of its reconstruction. The latter was made possible thanks to the original drawings, now kept in the State Archive of Naples, and numerous pictorial representations of the time, present in the major European museums.
The exhibition project, curated by the goldsmith center Il Tarì, will guide the visitor from the narration of historical events to the process of reconstructing the object, carried out following a complex work of gemological investigative analysis, design, and craftsmanship.
