The show

From Saturday 29 October to Sunday 29 January Casa Francotto hosts an important exhibition dedicated to the Catalan artist and to the comparison of his work with artists and pictorial currents with whom he spoke during his long career. The City of Busca opposes the “pandemic gray” that has just passed by Joan Miró's Genius loci. A far-sighted exhibition that showcases the colors, the “non-shapes”, the communicative alphabet of the prestigious Catalan artist and the art of his time.

His daring and experimental character and his completely original art have reached new expressive goals, giving life to one of the most significant and fertile artistic events of the twentieth century that has not yet finished surprising us. Although the work of this great personage met early fortune and was the subject of numerous studies and exhibitions, in fact it still reveals today, due to its complexity and exemplarity, aspects that have been poorly investigated.

The works of the master, combined with many artistic currents, especially Abstractionism and Surrealism, leave room for different reflections. One could say, perhaps more precisely according to tempus et locum , that his is a path close to surrealism rather than a complete adherence to the movement of the unconscious. At the base there is always a project, a well investigated idea. Other than a cast action: many of his works have had construction paths that lasted years. Do not create in a short time, as many still think. Joan Miró: neither abstract nor surrealist.

Cherasco tries to answer the question with the review of Casa Francotto, which highlights an artist in continuous experimentation, always ready for research, novelty and the absolute lack of censorship. Despite the difficult years he lived between the two wars, Miró's creative genius emerged in a vital way, stimulating the cultural debate within the numerous pictorial “currents” of both that period and subsequent ones. A tenacious research effort that led him to produce visual art, thought and poetry with great passion until the last years of his life.
