Sewerby Hall, in the Yorkshire and the Humber region, is one of the most important historic houses with an adjoining garden. It is part of the museums of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The impressive house, built between 1714 and 1720 by John Graeme, attracts over 150,000 visitors a year. Inside Sewerby Hall are the East Yorkshire Museum, including a room dedicated to Amy Johnson, and the Coast Guard Museum. The rooms inside Sewerby Hall house important collectibles, some of which also come from the Victoria and Albert Museum. The surrounding historic gardens, which stretch for more than 50 acres, are distinguished by the variety of pinatas within them. In spring it is also possible to admire the flowering of the Marie Curie daffodils. There is also a small zoo and aviary here, as well as an 18-hole putting green and a 9-hole pitch and putt. Beyond the museum activities, the room also hosts local community events.
