From 11 March to 9 January 2026
Room XX of the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo, dedicated to Neoclassicism, sees the departure of the paintings by Andrea Appiani that it usually hosts (the Madonna with Sleeping Child from around 1790 and The Toilet of Juno from around 1810) to the Musée National des Châteaux de Malmaison et de Bois-Préau, where they will be featured in the important monographic exhibition Andrea Appiani (1754-1817).
The painter of Napoleon in Italy (from March 16 at the Castello di Bois-Préau), curated by Rémis Cariel.
The occasion has thus allowed to bring to the public's attention, until January 9, 2026, two works usually kept in storage, by an artist also linked to the Napoleonic court, the Brescian Giovanni Battista Gigola appointed as a miniature portraitist of the Viceroy of Italy, Prince Eugenio di Beauharnais.
