24 March 2023
The inauguration of Luce della Montagna will be held on Friday 24 March , the major exhibition that Fondazione Brescia Musei and Skira are staging to explore, with three absolute protagonists of 20th-century photography and a contemporary master, the iconographic universe of the mountain, the flagship projects of the sixth edition of the Brescia Photo Festival, the initiative promoted by the Municipality of Brescia and the Brescia Museums Foundation, in collaboration with Ma.Co.f – Center of Italian photography.
The exhibition will be open from 24 March 2023 to 25 June 2023 at the Santa Giulia Museum
“Four photographers, four different interpretations of the mountain that flow through time from the last decades of the 19th century to the present day. Four authors who use photography to get to know the world around them, returning gazes and visions that have changed from one century to the next in step with the awareness that photographic art was conquering itself. The exhibition [...] is a temporal excursion through images that leads us from the Alps to the Caucasus mountain system in Eurasia, and from there to the Karakorum and then extends up to Sikkim, on the border with Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. From the Himalayan to African peaks, on Ruwenzori [...], and again in the American West of large spaces, inside the Yosemite National Park in California, to finally descend to South America and end up in the Peruvian Andes.
