The Bournemouth Natural Science Society (BNSS) was founded in 1903. The goal, since its foundation, has been to promote the study of all branches of science and natural history. The Bournemouth Natural Science Society and Museum was born more recently, in January 2016. In that year it received the status of Accredited Museum by the Arts Council England. The museum houses a fascinating and rich collection that preserves and preserves natural history artifacts including plants, birds, mammals, reptiles, insects, eggs and shells, as well as vast collections of fossils, rocks and minerals. The Bournemouth Natural Science Society and Museum also has numerous archaeological finds and an Egyptology collection that boasts a 2,500-year-old mummy inside its sarcophagus. The museum also houses photographic evidence from the late 19th century and two libraries with more than 5000 volumes available for loan and consultation.
