In the heart of Alto Adige, surrounded by the peaks of the Catinaccio, stands Museion - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Bolzano. A futuristic architecture, characterized by transparency and fluidity, welcomes the museum in the headquarters designed by the KSV studio from Berlin. Thanks to a bold and internationally oriented exhibition program, which has often brought the strongest positions of the current art scene, often in national premieres, Museion has established itself as one of the major museums of contemporary art in Italy and the Alpine region.
The collection counts over 4500 works and is presented in thematic paths, often in dialogue with other public and private collections. It reflects the history and exhibition choices of the museum over time - among the research cores of art and language, the languages of sculpture, the critical reinterpretation of the present, and the positions of non-European artists. Meeting point and covered square. Bringing the experience of the contemporary close to the public: with this commitment, Museion offers a rich program of mediation and events. In the summer months, the medial facade illuminates the city with highly evocative artist videos. The Passage space, open to external events, makes Museion a reference point for events of contemporary culture and therefore music, dance, and performance.
