On 13 April 2024, «I just don't like eggs!» will be inaugurated at the Antonio Dalle Nogare Foundation in Bolzano. Andrea Fraser on collectors, collecting, collections, the first solo exhibition dedicated by an Italian institution to the research of the artist, writer and thinker Andrea Fraser (USA, 1965).

Curated by Andrea Viliani with Vittoria Pavesi, the exhibition constitutes the first retrospective entirely dedicated to Fraser's works which investigate the figure of the collector, collecting, the art market and the intersections between private and public collections. The project includes works that temporally span the artist's entire research, from the end of the 1980s to the most recent productions, including an unpublished work conceived specifically for the exhibition. Right from the title «I just don't like eggs!», taken from the text of the performance May I Help You?, the language and mentality of collecting are evoked as an expression of taste, desire, distinction, possession, categorization, denial, exclusivity , and the exercise of choice as a form of power.

One of the most radical and influential artists of her generation, Fraser's pioneering commitment in the field of Institutional Critique investigates the social, financial and emotional economies of organizations, sectors, groups and individuals in the world of culture. Performatively embodying the data he generates through his research, his practice is as physical and affective as it is critical and intellectual, making use of the tools of humour, pathos and analysis and resorting to the discursive staging of debates, performative actions, scripts, data and forays into museums that shift the standards, models, rules of the art system and critically redefine our relationships with it. The artist's sociological and psychoanalytic approach thus becomes the lens to question the world of art itself and highlight its contradictions, projections, wills and desires.
