From 16 June to 18 September 2022
Thursday 16 June 2022 Palazzo Pallavicini inaugurates the summer season with the opening to the public of the Giuseppe Veneziano True Stories exhibition, curated by Valerio Dehò. The exhibition organized by Pallavicini srl by Chiara Campagnoli, Deborah Petroni and Rubens Fogacci stages the ultrapop universe of Veneziano in an anthological exhibition.
Comics and cartoons represent the world in which the artist is immersed and the atmosphere in which the exhibition will lead visitors, a place where high culture and popular culture coexist and collide, revealing the contradictions of contemporary reality through "true stories" . The weaknesses and false myths that surround us are laid bare with an ironic and provocative approach that has always distinguished Veneziano's work.
The artist portrays himself as the Mona Lisa , imitates Dalì who in turn makes a verse to Velázquez while painting Snow White ; Spiderman takes over from Jeff Koons and the Girl with a Pearl Earring takes a naked selfie. The result is a festive mash up in which everything coexists, past, present and future coincide and every distance is inexorably shortened. The superheroes of comics and the myths of the past meet the characters and objects of the present in a wide-ranging anthology, in which there is no shortage of forays into the history of art, from Goya to Raphael .
The exhibition looks like a huge party, "a great beauty" with bright and gaudy tones that stands as a symbol of a contemporaneity obsessed with technology and glamor, which is revealed through an out-of-the-line story in which politically correct is banned. There are many illustrious quotes and immediately recognizable public figures, to whom the different sections of the exhibition are dedicated, divided into thematic areas and aimed at an audience of all ages.
