The show

In conjunction with the Spini loan of Giovan Battista Moroni to the Frick Collection in New York at the Moroni: The Riches of Renaissance Portraiture exhibition, the museum hosts a selection of works by Gianriccardo Piccoli that reinterpret the portraits of the Albinese master in a contemporary way.

Gianriccardo Piccoli transforms Moroni's portraits into exercises of memory; the subjects are summarized in faceless silhouettes, devoid of the details that characterize them and that make them expressive characters of reality. The artist leaves us the task of reconstructing the faces and stories and weaving a dialogue with the works and with our memory, suggesting that we recover a calm and profound time of observation.
