The show

The initiative follows the important donation acquired by the Pinacoteca di Bari last 2016, consisting of 172 works by the painter Guido Di Renzo (Chieti 1886 - Naples 1956), originally from Abruzzo and Neapolitan by adoption and artistic training. Friend and pupil in the Neapolitan capital of Salento Giuseppe Casciaro, Di Renzo took an active part in the main artistic exhibitions on the national scene in the first half of the twentieth century, receiving important awards on several occasions (among these, the purchase of his works by King Vittorio Emanuele III and the Municipality of Naples).
The exhibition - over one hundred and fifty works including paintings and sculptures - will compare the works of Di Renzo with those of the master and later fraternal friend Casciaro, together with a chosen anthology of the representatives of the artistic community of Vomero, by painters Vincenzo Ciardo, Attilio Pratella , Luca Postiglione, Giuseppe Aprea, Francesco Galante and many others, to the sculptors Tello Torelli, Filippo Cifariello and Francesco De Matteis, through the evocative reconstruction of those exhibition contexts that established themselves in the Neapolitan cultural life of the first half of the twentieth century.
