The Civic Museum of the Capuchins in Bagnacavallo opens to the public the exhibition "The revolution of the sign. The graphics of the avant-gardes from Manet to Picasso", curated by Davide Caroli and Martina Elisa Piacente, with the collaboration of Marco Fagioli, promoted by the Municipality of Bagnacavallo and organized by the Civic Museum of the Capuchins.Following the success of the exhibitions dedicated to some of the most important engraving artists such as Goya, Klinger, Dürer, and the more recent "Streets and Stories" which allowed to discover the masterpieces of Ukiyo-e by Hokusai and Hiroshige, the museum continues its commitment to the enhancement of graphic art. With the upcoming exhibition, the programming that has characterized the proposals of the cultural institutions of Bagnacavallo in the last three years, focused on the theme of landscape, is coming to an end, and this year it is dedicated to the human landscape. This path starts from this point, picking up the thread of the discussion where the last major exhibition dedicated to Ukiyo-e ended, that is, at the moment when Japonisme spread among the artists based in Paris and European art - eager for new stimuli and influences - began a transformation that characterized its evolution, focusing on the theme of the representation of man in a historical period marked by the great changes that between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century renewed classicism and introduced those new canons destined to revolutionize the art known up to that point.
