The work is composed of a raw canvas on which diagonal lines are traced in acrylic, alternately parallel and perpendicular to each other. The canvas is kept raw, untreated and unprepared, as a field already ready for pictorial action. The gesture is made as mechanical as possible and the free hand is completely abolished. In the series Markierungen (a word that can be translated into Italian as trace or also "imprint") Gaul intends to leave a simple mark of his passage, as dry as possible.
