Description

The work is composed of a rough canvas on which diagonal lines are drawn in an acrylic pattern, alternately parallel and perpendicular to each other. The canvas is kept raw, untreated or prepared, as a field ready for pictorial action. The gesture is made as mechanical as possible and the free hand is totally abolished. In the Markierungen series (word translated into Italian with "trace" or even "imprint") Gaul intends to leave a simple sign of his passage, as dry as possible.
