Galileo Andrea Maria Chini was an Italian painter, decorator, graphic designer and ceramist, one of the protagonists of the Liberty style in Italy. In Florence in 1896 he founded the "Arte della Ceramica" factory (later renamed Manifattura di Fontebuoni) together with Giovanni Vannuzzi, Giovanni Montelatici, Vittorio Giunti, Vincenzo Giustiniani and Giuseppe Gatti Casazza. In 1897 the Municipality of San Miniato commissioned Dario Chini to restore the frescoes in the Sala del Consiglio Comunale (today called the Sala delle Sette Virtù).
