In the rooms that house the Pinacoteca, the Consuls and the Gonfaloniere of Justice used to reside. The current division of the spaces with coffered ceilings, doors, and fireplaces is the result of renovations carried out during the Renaissance period when Gubbio was under the rule of the Feltre and Rovere lordships. The collection of the Civic Pinacoteca originates from the works acquired by the Municipality following the suppression of religious orders in the 19th century and is characterized by paintings on panel and canvas mainly from the Umbrian school dating from the late 13th to the 19th century. The visit can start from the rooms I, II and III which mainly collect paintings on panel and detached frescoes dating from the late 13th to the early 16th century, passing through the room of the Fountains, room IV, where the activity of local and foreign painters active in the city in the 16th and 17th centuries is documented, and ending in the room of the Audiences, room V, where paintings dating from the late 16th to the early 20th century from various Italian painting schools are collected.
