The art of feathers accompanies the Kayapo throughout their life and a particularly significant artifact is the Great Krôkrôk-tire Diadem. Worn only in large celebrations, it is made exclusively with the tail feathers of two species of parrot: the red macaw and the blue-yellow macaw. At the ends of the tips are tied white heron or eagle sub-andiral feathers. The name Krôkrôk, an onomatopoeic word, indicates the rustling of the leaves shaken by the wind, and its swaying during the dances, recalls the image of a person flying.
