Amintore Fanfani
Landscape, 1966, pastels on paper, 30×22 cm
(Pieve Santo Stefano, February 6, 1908 – Rome, November 20, 1999) Italian politician, economist, and historian. The presence of a work by Amintore Fanfani in the Valenzi Collection is evidence of the excellent relationships that Maurizio Valenzi had at the time with representatives of different political parties.
"The double life of Amintore Fanfani begins in his grandfather Sebastiano's workshop. Here, at the age of nine, he learns to carve wood, then attends the School of Art of the Workers' Society in Pieve Santo Stefano, near Arezzo. Despite subsequent studies in economics and his dominant political vocation, Fanfani never abandoned his love for painting until the end of his life, with results of surprising sensitivity. Harsh and angular in public affairs, here Fanfani appears calm, tender, and almost fearful in arranging delicate scores." Quoted from ilGiornale.it The second life of Amintore Fanfani 26/05/2006.
