The Warrington Museum and Art Gallery is a museum in the English town of Warrington that houses a rich collection covering many thematic areas: archeology, art, ethnology, natural history, photography and social history. The museum, located above the central library, aims to inspire, challenge, stimulate and entertain its visitors by encouraging learning in all its forms. The museum has about 200,000 objects of which the greatest reference refers to the history of Warrington and the surrounding areas and there are also some of national importance. The galleries are divided into thematic arias. Despite the valuable art collection exhibited in the museum, the local and social history galleries with various exhibits on the industries that have shaped the city and a fascinating "Time Tunnel" are famous. However, the real highlight of the entire collection of the Warrington Museum is the beautifully decorated Egyptian sarcophagus and its Egyptian mummy. The art gallery exhibits offer an exciting range of temporary exhibitions. Artists such as Tracy Emin, Damien Hurst and Sam Taylor-Wood have been exhibited here. Temporary exhibitions feature local groups on a regular basis and work with local artists renewing the program every 4 months. Additional temporary exhibitions are available at the Pyramid Arts Center, just a 2-minute walk down the road.
