The Isidoro Falchi Civic Archaeological Museum is located in the center of Vetulonia, a hamlet of Castiglione della Pescaia in the province of Grosseto. The Museum was inaugurated in 1969 as a small Antiquarium and the original idea was to exhibit a series of objects from the excavations of the city and from the necropolises in the area. Only in 2000 did the museum reopen to the public with a real display. The Archaeological Museum is made up of seven rooms that trace the history and evolution of Vetulonia from the Villanovan to Roman times. Of great interest are the hut-shaped cinerary urns, the bronze fibulae, the clay jugs, the bowls, the spools, the arrowheads and the tips of spears which constitute an important collection found in the tombs of the vast eastern necropolis of Poggio la Guardia. . Interesting is the plaster reproduction of the Throne of Claudius, a marble bas-relief found in Cerveteri which depicts the personification of three Etruscan cities: Tarquinia, Vulci and Vetulonia. Every year, especially in the summer and autumn months, the museum hosts temporary archaeological-themed exhibitions.
