From 5 October to 10 April 2023
The protagonist of the first exhibition dedicated to photography is Anton Corbijn (Strijen, Holland, 1955), one of the most celebrated photographers in the world who, almost twenty years after his last exhibition in Italy, presents "Staged", a large solo show designed to E.ART.H., open to the public from 5 October 2022 to 10 April 2023.
The exhibition, curated by Walter Guadagnini, member of the Curatorial Committee of E.ART.H., historian of photography and director of CAMERA - Italian Center for Photography, develops as a journey through the career of the Dutch photographer through a corpus of about eighty works, which includes some of the most iconic shots he took from the beginning up to today and which have now become part of the collective imagination, combined with other less known ones that shed an unprecedented light on his production.
As evoked by the title, "Staged" (constructed, staged), for the first time the exhibition project places the accent not only on the extraordinary work of human documentation carried out over the years, but also on the processes of image construction photography that characterize Corbijn's work, highlighting his almost cinematic approach to photography. Corbijn's shots evoke stories, enclose a series of elements that insert the image into a narrative continuum, as if they were video frames.
A real national exhibition event, which pays homage to a master of the portrait, visual biographer of the biggest stars of the international music scene, cinema and contemporary art, accompanied by a program of appointments that explore his activity, including the filmic one with music videos that have defined the language of the genre, feature films and documentaries.
