From 5 November to 12 December 2021
The first four issues of Vesper. Journal of Architecture, Arts and Theory | Journal of Architecture, Arts & Theory are the subject of the exhibition curated by Sara Marini who returns with videos, drafts and enlargements of images the direction, the construction process and the result of the editorial project. The event is part of the Salotto Longhena project of the Civic Museums Foundation and Iuav University.
Vesper is a six-monthly scientific journal, project of the Pard Publishing Center, Research Infrastructure Ir.Ide, Department of Cultures of the project of the Iuav University of Venice. Vesper was selected for the Adi Design Index 2021 by the Permanent Design Observatory (it is currently among the projects on display in the Adi Design Index 2021 exhibition in the Adi Design Museum in Milan) to participate in the award of the Compasso d'Oro.
The first issue [Fall | Winter 2019] of Vesper was dedicated to Supervenice. Venice is well known, its identity is so well known that it can be taken for granted, summarized as a logo and repeatable: the city shows its face leaving its own structure in the background. Gold and mud mix here, giving body to a multifaceted document.
The second issue [Spring | Summer 2020] of Vesper dealt with the subject matter-author | Author-Matter. The absence of authorship seems to be a successful brand today. The tensions between the anomie of matter, the norm that establishes authorship and the economy that makes the work possible draw conflicting perspectives.
The third issue [Fall | Winter 2020] of Vesper has moved into the forest | Wildness. The forest returns both as an image, capable of summarizing the characters of the places and the ways of crossing them, and as a reality: the advance of the woods in some territories and the presence of wild and wild areas in the city are concrete facts and in continuous expansion.
The fourth issue [Spring | Summer 2021] of Vesper traveled between Exiles and Exods | Exiles and Exoduses. Two movements, perhaps antithetical, affect space. Individual individuals exclude themselves, leave their own land, withdraw into other conditions, lay down the power from within, avoid the power that restrains. At the same time peoples, animals, plant organisms are in exodus, they move, run away, migrate, changing the design and the sense of the territory and geographies.
