From 24 March to 6 January 2020
Palazzo Grassi presents the first solo exhibition in Italy of Luc Tuymans (Mortsel, Belgium, 1958), as part of the monographic program dedicated to great contemporary artists, which from 2012 to today alternate with thematic exhibitions from the Pinault Collection.
The exhibition, curated by Caroline Bourgeois in collaboration with Luc Tuymans, collects over 80 works, tracing a path focused on her pictorial production, with a selection of paintings made from 1986 to today, coming from the Pinault Collection and from international museums and private collections.
The title of the exhibition "La Pelle" was proposed by the artist and is inspired by the eponymous novel by the Italian writer Curzio Malaparte (1898-1957), published in 1949. The exhibition does not follow a chronological order, but intends to offer new comparisons and reflections on the fundamental issues faced by the artist in his pictorial production.
