The exhibition aims to address the theme of the iconography of Justice in its multiple facets and in the various historical moments and the rendering of this theme in art, in which justice is represented both as the embodiment of moral virtue and in terms of action aimed at achieving of its purpose.
In the exhibition will be shown works of art that represent the allegory of Justice as a virtue and others that have as their subject some of the best known episodes of example of manifest action, such as the Judgment of Solomon or the Last Judgment. In traditional iconography, Justice is depicted with the balance as the oldest of the attributes, to which are added the sword as a warning symbol of her power to punish the wicked, the lion as an expression of strength and the blindfold that blinds her. a sign of impartiality. But the history of its iconography and its attributes has a distant genesis.
