In conjunction with the 18th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, AAinD is pleased to present “Journey over a million footpaths”, an immersive digital exhibition developed in collaboration with creative partner SARAVÁ Project.

The exhibition, organized in partnership with Zuecca Projects, will be hosted at the Squero Castello in Venice, from 18 May to 18 June 2023.

Through this immersive exhibition, the public is invited to transcend physical space and discover a series of Central African artefacts, brought to life through a digital and cinematic installation, composed of sound, light and color, which uses 3D scans and animations together to valuable archival footage.

Traditional African artifacts become the protagonists of their own story, accompanying the viewer on a journey through an imaginary landscape that refers to the panoramas of an Africa that was.

The innovative potential of new media makes it possible to digitally exhibit African artifacts in a new physical and conceptual dimension, offering a means of restitution that makes objects visible to a wider audience, especially the younger generations.

The exhibition exploits contemporary technical solutions to allow these artifacts greater visibility, bridging the gap in an otherwise poor world of cultural interconnectedness. The management of the collection of these objects thus becomes non-physical, and the dilemma of shipping and temperature-controlled storage is solved. In its digital state, the material can rest securely on thumb drives and iCloud.

The exhibition, through new technologies, of previously hidden or inaccessible historical objects helps to strengthen the link between past and present and to create a continuum towards the future.
